As of Oct. 1, 2019, a large amount of capacity remains unclaimed in the Illinois Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) program. That is money waiting to be claimed by solar customers!
The Illinois SREC Program will pay solar customers upfront for every 1 MW (1,000 kW) of power they are estimated to produce over a 15 period. This can cover 25%-40% of the cost of installation!
You can read more about the Illinois SREC program here.
Below you will see how much capacity is remaining within your designated block.
Group A
Group A represents projects located in the service territories of Ameren Illinois, Mt. Carmel, MidAmerican, and rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities (northeast, central, and southern Illinois).
Small DG (distributed generation) are solar projects 10 kW (AC) and below. Large DG are solar projects above 10 kW up to 2,000 kW.
- Within the Small DG block, 11.3 MW (11,300 kW) of capacity is available in Block 1. Over 27 MW (27,000 kW) remains available in Block 2 and 3.
- Within the Large DG block, 14.6 MW (14,600 kW) of capacity is available in Block 4.
After Block 1, 2, 3, and 4 in Small DG is depleted, this amazing opportunity will be finished unless further legislative action is taken in Springfield, Illinois.
Group B
Group B represents projects located in the service territories of ComEd, and rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities (northern Illinois and Chicago region).
- Within the Small DG block, 22.3 MW (22,300 kW) of capacity is available in Block 1. Over 65 MW (65,000 kW) remains available in Block 2 and 3.
- Within the Large DG block, 12.8 MW (12,800 kW) of capacity is available in Block 4.
Again, after Block 1, 2, 3, and 4 in Small DG is depleted, this amazing opportunity will be finished unless further legislative action is taken in Springfield, Illinois.
