Tick Tock Energy Completes Solar Array on New Village Hall
Effingham, IL – Local solar installer Tick Tock Energy recently completed a solar project for the Teutopolis Village Hall. The 24 kW (DC) solar installation includes 60 solar panels and is mounted on a ballasted roof-mounted rack. The commercial solar system is estimated to provide over 60% electricity for the new village hall and adjacent garage.
The solar array is also estimated to save approximately $2,800 a year in electricity. Factoring in electricity inflation, the project is forecast to reduce electric costs over $60,000 over the next 20 years.
Village Trustee Dan Zerrusen was initially against building the new solar array because of the price. He said it seemed expensive at first, but when the team at Tick Tock Energy sat down with the board and explained the cost savings in the years to come, he was convinced solar is a great overall investment.
Village President Greg Hess said, “We think this is a great deal for the community. We are happy with the work Tick Tock Energy has done setting up our new solar array.”
Village Trustee member Dave Tegeler said, “Even before construction was started, we wanted to be proactive with new the village hall. We agreed the hall needed to go green.” He continued, “This a great investment for our community. It may seem like a large cost at a glance, but this array will help increase electricity savings significantly for years to come.”
Construction for the new Teutopolis Village Hall started in September of last year. Although not completely finalized yet, the staff moved into the new building on February 19th. The solar array at Teutopolis Village Hall was interconnected with the utility grid on April 8th and is expected to have a significant impact on the building’s Ameren bill.
